WHY GRASS-FED?
HEALTH & NUTRITION
Grass-fed beef is naturally higher in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, including: Omega-3 fatty acids, Conjugated Linoleic Acid(CLA), Vitamins A, B6, B12, D, and E, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Potassium, Selenium, and Zinc.
THE ENVIRONMENT
Not only is grass-fed beef more nutritious, it’s more sustainable for the environment by contributing to the regeneration of soil, increase in biodiversity, and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Research suggests that traditional grass-fed and grass-finished beef production actually reduces the carbon footprint, improving the environment rather than harming it.
RESPECT FOR THE ANIMAL
Cows should spend their lives grazing freely on open pastures. Sadly, most cattle in the U.S. are raised in concentrated or confined areas where they are fed unnatural grains, typically corn and soy. Grain-fed operations are popular because they fatten up the animals quickly and generate more efficient profits. However, this method does not prioritize the welfare of the animals or environment. Grains are notorious for increasing acidity in the cows stomach (E.Coli loves acidity) causing regular heartburn and bloat, which can lead to serious health conditions. Further, confined feeding operations are known to routinely use hormones and antibiotics to help control or prevent illness. Cattle that forage peacefully on grasses simply do not face such discomfort or disease.
